SELECTING YOUR CONTRACTOR
Knowing something about your contractor isn't really enough. Quality installation, you should ask questions of the contractor like-
How long have they been installing pavers?
Have they been trained by either a manufacturer of the product or the NZCMA?
Will they provide you with three references, not only recent ones but also past ones?
Can you contact the references they provide and inspect the jobs?
Do they have a portfolio of photos and letters?
Do they have current liability insurance? While the contractor is on your property they should be insured for any damages or injuries that may occur. Check your homeowners insurance policy for coverage of the contractor while on your property.
Do they install the job as per NZCMA or manufacturers specifications for the laying of the product?
Do they provide a written, itemized proposal outlining the scope of the work and the terms of payment? It should include starting and completion dates, demolition and excavation, paving and base materials.
Do they guarantee their work for at least one years and will they return in a year to inspect it?
With the answers to these questions and others you may have, you should be able to select a competent contractor.
